A Cozy Corner Called K Patisserie

On a recent trip home, I had the chance to dine at one of the newer establishments in Tacloban City. At the corner of Paterno and P. Gomez Streets is K Patisserie, a cozy nook owned and managed by a very young entrepreneur Kristine Gaspay.

Bathed in white, the place is accented by quilted covers, irregularly-shaped wooden tables, interesting curios and of course that big letter K in one corner.

The place sells cupcakes and cookies but for our visit that night, we tried their dishes.

We had the Seafood A'lio - pasta in olive oil with a hint of pesto, topped with mussels, shrimps and squid. It's one of the must-try dishes at the cafe.

Then there was the plate of Grilled Pork Belly which was a bit of a disappointment as it was a bit salty for my taste and the meat wasn't tender as I expected it to be.

And my favourite that night was the Bacon Burger with Fries. The burger patty was juicy and the bacon was a perfect pair which makes the burger one of the bestsellers of K Patisserie. Plus the crisp fries were served hot.

There are other dishes worth the try in the next visit. Their menu is varied, from pasta to burgers to breakfast meals served the whole day. And their specialty is their burger which you can have according to your own liking, just like a DIY burger. Refreshing beverages served in beakers such as the citrus & herb drink and raspberry iced tea are a great way to cap a meal.
