An Afternoon by the Rhine in Basel

A highlight of my stay in Basel was spending an afternoon by the River Rhine.  There was something calming about it,  sitting by the bank and watching the currents, the boats that passed by, the beautiful architecture across the river and the people whiling their time away.

Apart from sitting by the riverbank, one can also take the ferry across the river which runs not on motor but moves with the help of the river currents.

For the more athletic type, swimming or doing some serious paddling are some options.

But what I loved most about enjoying Basel by the River Rhine was the Braille Model designed for the visually impaired so that they may get to have a feel of the layout of the city and its beautiful architecture.
